American Apparel Shirred Cap Sleeve Tee in Mauve $30
This is one crappy photo. It is also however, one of my favorite t-shirts, and being that it’s American Apparel, it was the only photo I could find that didn’t look like an adolescent porn shoot from 1972. Moving on. I am a teensy bit obsessed with the exact spot that any given short sleeve shirt hits on my upper arm. On my body it can be the difference between looking like Audry Hepburn, or like my Ukranian grandmother. I would have thought that this tee would have done the latter – I was wrong. This shirt is both comfortable and flattering; It’s super thin (great for layering) and super stretchy, so that I don’t feel ‘confined’ the way that I do in some other form fitting tees. American Apparel is notoriously slim cut, so you might want to size up; I wear a small, and a medium fits me perfectly. I own the Mauve and the Eggplant (quelle surprise), but it also comes in Black, White, and a hot pink called ‘Sangria,’ that in no way resembles it’s namesake. (I also love the kids tees for my dudes – great staples!)

This shirt is so cute! First I also LOVE American Apparel, those guys know what they are doing!! The small and simple “girly touch” to the sleeve on this shirt makes it stand apart from the “norm.” I love it.

hi there. couldn’t agree with you more re. American Apparel’s “art direction”…that said i have a rather large selection of tunic tops (they call “dresses”) long/short sleeve, and i wear them almost every day. Very soft.

Hey Abby! It’s a fine line with this one – they can. A lot of times I’ll layer it over another long sleeve tee w/ a higher neck, if not I’ll wear a bra with cute, thin straps that I don’t mind having show. It would also work well over a tank since it’s very thin…
