I’m saving the details for a full reveal, but I’m going to tease you with the fantastic brands I’ll be wearing this week to the movie premieres in both New York and Los Angeles:
KRISTINIT is the label of designer and artist Kristina Lenss.
Kristina studied costume design at the renowned Wimbledon School of Art in London and has an M.F.A. in Costume Design from UCLA. Working in various design arenas including theater, opera, film, commercials, ballet, and illustration, Kristina has designed and exhibited her award winning designs all over the world.
Founded in 2006, Kristinit was named Lucky Magazine’s “One to Watch” designer and has been featured in Teen Vogue, OK Magazine, Style.com, Nylon, Agenda Magazine, and Apparel News. Celebrity clients include Eva Mendes, Scarlett Johansson, Zooey Deshanel, Bobbie Thomas, Finola Hughes, and Julia Anderson.
Inspired by nature, history and art, the label fills a niche for inspirational and sophisticated fashion for the elegant and eco-conscious woman. A key tenet of Kristinit’s mission has always been to design with more than just style in mind: The line uses innovative organic fabrics, local manufacturing, and fair trade practices, and Kristinit continues to donate a percentage of each sale to the International Fund for Animal Welfare and the Pachamama Alliance.
Sorrelli jewelry is hand crafted from genuine semi-precious stones and high quality Austrian crystals. It is designed to become heirlooms, handed down through the generations.
The Sorrelli vision, to create beautiful jewelry and bring enjoyment to those who wear it, continues today.
Through LA Stylist Mom – who styled both me and The Gorilla for premiere week – Kristinit and Sorrelli have lent the items I’ll be wearing to the MoMA and the Los Angeles premiere. I can’t wait to show you how it all came together.
I’ll be posting all week as much as I can during this exciting week. If you haven’t already, make plans next weekend to see the movie!

Yes, I have a $50 Gift Card to give you, but that’s not what this is about. I live in a city that I truly love, but I am also a mother and it keeps me up at night that California ranks 49th in the nation for public education. Forty-freaking-ninth. The last time I checked there were only fifty states. The reality is, it has to start with you – and Old Navy. Schools should look like this…
…which is why Old Navy teamed up with four Compton Unified elementary schools to encourage kids to attend school on a daily basis. That’s it. Just getting them motivated to go. By inviting 200 randomly selected students to a kickoff shopping spree event, Old Navy provided each with a $50 gift card in exchange for signing a pledge, stating that they would regularly attend school.
As you can see the outcome was a success, since what could be a better incentive to stay in school than new school clothes? Positive reinforcement, that’s what. Old Navy is extending their fight for, and support of, keeping kids in school by awarding prizes at the end of the year to students who maintain perfect attendance. Sometimes it just takes a little help and motivation…as if we didn’t already heart Old Navy enough.
Now it’s your turn to enter to win a $50 Gift Card from Old Navy and LASM by answering the question, How will you encourage your child to attend school this year? Simply write your answer in the comments section of this post for a chance to win. As always, earn up to four additional entries by 1) Tweeting about the giveaway using the ReTweet button 2) Blogging about the giveaway with a link back to this post 3) Subscribing to L.A. Stylist Mom via Bloglovin’ or Feedburner (both located in the sidebar) or 4) Becoming an L.A. Stylist Mom Facebook Fan. Be sure to leave a comment on this post for each extra entry, or they will not be counted. Good luck from Old Navy and L.A. Stylist Mom!
*All comments must be posted by the end of the giveaway on Sunday, October 10th, at 11:59 EST. The winner will then be chosen by L.A. Stylist Mom via random.org and notified by e mail shortly thereafter. One entry per person, with a maximum of four additional entries. If a winner fails to respond within three days of notification, a new winner will be selected. Open to U.S. and Canada residents ages 18 years or older.

As if the view from my room wasn’t inspiring enough…
…we headed here for a phenomenal dinner, prepared in a private room by the gorgeous talented chef himself.
Before we knew it, it was showtime…
…where backstage chaos ensued…
…and I told Nichelle, “Dude – I cannot get enough of that hair” to which she replied, “Girl…? Why don’t you take a look at yours.”
Renee – who regularly works with Naomi – expertly applied fire-engine-red lipstick, and I felt beautiful…
…despite the fact that, thanks to a wide-angle lens, I look like Shrek.
I returned to my hotel by myself and took this…so that I could always remember my red lipstick moment.
(During the month of September, Electrolux is donating $200 for each Perfect Steam washer and dryer purchased in ‘Turquoise Sky,’ the color inspired by the teal ribbon of ovarian cancer awareness, as part of its $750,000 commitment to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. You can join the campaign at Kelly-Confidential and by simply pressing the Perfect Steam button, Electrolux will donate $1 to OCRF! You can also watch the Rumpled to Runway fashion show in its entirety, here.)
*My participation in the ‘Rumpled to Runway’ Campaign was sponsored by Electrolux, who provided me with a $150 stipend to style my look, as well as travel arrangements to, and accommodations in New York to participate.
NYC Fashion Week is just around the corner…and I’m in it. In a white dress. You heard me. It’s no secret that my M.O. has always been as a behind-the-camera girl, but when asked to participate in the Electrolux event hosted by Kelly Ripa to benefit The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, I just couldn’t refuse. To kick off fashion week and demonstrate how the Electrolux Perfect Steam washer and dryer can transform your outfit from Rumpled to Runway, ten fashion bloggers (including me, obvy) have been challenged to wear white one last time before fall; we’ve also been asked to accessorize our outfits with teal, the official color of ovarian cancer awareness…and you can help!
Beginning September 8th, you can visit the Wash ‘n Care lounge at Kelly Confidential to support the cause and enter for a chance to win a daily shopping spree as well as the grand prize, a Perfect Steam washer and dryer from Electrolux! They’ll donate $1 to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund each time you enter by simply pressing the Perfect Steam button at Kelly Confidential. Electrolux is also making a donation for each Perfect Steam washer and dryer purchased, as part of its $750,000 commitment to OCRF.
The fashion show will take place on September 8th at 1:00 PM, EST, and you can RSVP to watch the live stream on line at Kelly Confidential, or at Kelly’s Facebook page. I’ve included some of the looks I’m thinking of wearing on the runway, but you’ll have to tune in to see my final picks – see you there!

At first glance MIKA Organic’s prices may seem a bit steep, but it’s a small sum to pay when you think about caring for the environment, saving animals and ultimately the planet itself. I’m not here to preach because seriously – this stuff is crazy cute, but I’m definitely down with designer Mika Machida’s accountability in creating sustainable, organic fashion; not to mention she donates a portion of her proceeds to non-profit organizations supporting endangered species and their habitats, amongst others. The entire scenario including the clothes? Gorgeous.
…and not a moment too soon, since you’re reading those price tags correctly. (Obvy, these are not the collaboration pics, but a sampling from the actual Temple St. Clair collection.) How else would we be able to partake in the luxurious indulgence that is Temple St. Clair? Thanks (again) Target!
Although not at liberty to share them (yet), I’ve seen the photos of the collaboration firsthand and you will not be disappointed – especially since there isn’t a single item priced over fifty bucks. These limited edition pieces are set to launch nationwide, both in stores and online, on August 29th and will be available through December 26th – unless of course it sells out first. If so? You’re on your own.
Logo tees? Not a fan. Slogans? Even worse. Stunning original artwork? In. I’ve featured Des Artistes in the past, in addition to wearing my own well-received Roots tee made from crazy comfy organic cotton and printed with eco-friendly ink. They’ve recently released their new look-book, complete with the original lineup of fine artists, in addition to a charity collaboration with conceptual artist Ai Weiwei, the proceeds of which will go to benefit Doctors Without Borders. *Applause* Chic, original, sustainable, charitable…love. (The Des Artiste collection is available for purchase at mytheresa.com.)
