Dolce Vita Teal Damask Sandal

NYC Fashion Week is just around the corner…and I’m in it. In a white dress. You heard me. It’s no secret that my M.O. has always been as a behind-the-camera girl, but when asked to participate in the Electrolux event hosted by Kelly Ripa to benefit The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, I just couldn’t refuse. To kick off fashion week and demonstrate how the Electrolux Perfect Steam washer and dryer can transform your outfit from Rumpled to Runway, ten fashion bloggers (including me, obvy) have been challenged to wear white one last time before fall; we’ve also been asked to accessorize our outfits with teal, the official color of ovarian cancer awareness…and you can help!

Beginning September 8th, you can visit the Wash ‘n Care lounge at Kelly Confidential to support the cause and enter for a chance to win a daily shopping spree as well as the grand prize, a Perfect Steam washer and dryer from Electrolux! They’ll donate $1 to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund each time you enter by simply pressing the Perfect Steam button at Kelly Confidential. Electrolux is also making a donation for each Perfect Steam washer and dryer purchased, as part of its $750,000 commitment to OCRF.

The fashion show will take place on September 8th at 1:00 PM, EST, and you can RSVP to watch the live stream on line at Kelly Confidential, or at Kelly’s Facebook page. I’ve included some of the looks I’m thinking of wearing on the runway, but you’ll have to tune in to see my final picks – see you there!

(My participation in the ‘Rumpled to Runway’ Campaign was sponsored by Electrolux, who provided me with a $150 stipend to style my look as well as travel arrangements to and accommodations in New York to participate.)

Garanimals For Grown-Ups by MIKA Organic

Friday, July 30th, 2010

MIKA Organic 'Protect The Forest' Aspen Dress $280

MIKA Organic 'Protect Marine Life' Sting Ray Top $180

MIKA Organic 'Protect The Natural Habitat For Butterflies' Butterfly Top $220

MIKA Organic Tattoo Legging $90

At first glance MIKA Organic’s prices may seem a bit steep, but it’s a small sum to pay when you think about caring for the environment, saving animals and ultimately the planet itself. I’m not here to preach because seriously – this stuff is crazy cute, but I’m definitely down with designer Mika Machida’s accountability in creating sustainable, organic fashion; not to mention she donates a portion of her proceeds to non-profit organizations supporting endangered species and their habitats, amongst others. The entire scenario including the clothes? Gorgeous.

Pre-Fall H&M Under $175

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

I know I’m rushing you, but fall is right around the corner even if you can’t feel it. How much are you going to wish you had scooped up this ensemble, for a mere hundred and seventy-five bucks – including shoes – come September? Food for thought.

Up Next: Temple St. Clair For Target…

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

Temple St. Clair 18K Blue Moonstone and Tanzanite Cluster Ring $10,500

Temple St. Clair 18K Diamond Foglia Drop Earrings $3,250

Temple St. Clair 18K Pavé Serpent Pendant with Blue Sapphires $3,900

…and not a moment too soon, since you’re reading those price tags correctly. (Obvy, these are not the collaboration pics, but a sampling from the actual Temple St. Clair collection.) How else would we be able to partake in the luxurious indulgence that is Temple St. Clair? Thanks (again) Target!

Although not at liberty to share them (yet), I’ve seen the photos of the collaboration firsthand and you will not be disappointed – especially since there isn’t a single item priced over fifty bucks. These limited edition pieces are set to launch nationwide, both in stores and online, on August 29th and will be available through December 26th – unless of course it sells out first. If so? You’re on your own.

Summertime = Family Time

Monday, June 14th, 2010

I’m taking the week between school and camp off to spend it with my dudes, just hanging. Until then, here’s a few of my recent fave sites for you to check out – let me know what you’re digging. See you next week! And in no particular order; The Girls Keep Coming To The Canyon (okay maybe in some kind of order since I cannot get enough of this one), Need Supply Company, Bona Drag, The Selby, Girl’s Gone Child, LOOKBOOK.nu, La Garçonne and Take Sunset

LASM’s Father’s Day Gift Guide!

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

Klein Canvas and Naugahyde Tool Bag $54.96

Wally 'Day At The Beach' Board Shorts $57

Smith + Butler Trace Carrier Buckle Belt $88

Alternative Apparel Army Twill Mash Field Jacket $100

Bed Stu Black Earnest Lace Boot $148

Boy am I hearting these picks for the fashionable (or not so) Dad or dude! Even if he isn’t super handy, I cannot get enough of both the cost and chic factor of the Klein Canvas Bag (which could easily double as an overnight or carry-on) – unless of course it was the ‘aeriel view’ of the beach printed on those board shorts. How crazy cute?!

I’m thinking about the Smith + Butler belt for J (unread that J), since I’ve long been on the hunt for a black belt that could be either dressy or casual and doesn’t look like every other flatrectanglebrushedsteel piece of crap out there. The jacket is a classic no-brainer, and the boots? Let’s just say I first noticed them on my much younger, kinda (unbelievably) cute neighbor and shook him down for the detes. I’ve adored them ever since…
