Bargain Of The Week From H&M…Again

H&M 'The Garden Collection' Eyelet Tunic $14.95

I would wear this a skillion and one times this summer…as a dress…with linen pants…or jeans…as a bathing suit cover-up. You get it.

Outfit Pick: H&M Under $200!

Friday, March 5th, 2010

One of the things that has always been a huge drag about H&M, is that you can’t shop online (unless you speak German). You can however, check out their stuff, and with the addition of their Fashion Studio, you can now waste hours of your precious time mixing and matching various outfits on an underwear-clad model (think paper dolls for big girls). You can even choose a ‘head’ for your model in order to emulate ‘your’ coloring, to perhaps get a better idea of what the outfits might in fact look like on you. I’ve taken the liberty of putting together this little ensemble, which is a most reasonable two hundred bucks for everything. It’s also a good transitional outfit from winter to spring. That is all. (Price of jeans estimated at $39.95)

Ten Trends For Spring 2010

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Ten Trends For Spring 2010 (Click to Polyvore for details, where to buy and pricing.)

1. Lucite: It’s not just for strippers anymore.

2.  If you’ve got the legs, shorts are the shizznit for Spring.

3. Neutrals: Nude is the new black.

4.  Loving this lingerie inspired dress from Calypso. Note: The word inspiration is key; your bra is not a shirt.

5. Bright accessories add a modern glow to warm your winter gloom!

6.  Feminine is back, complete with pretty pastels and rows of ruffles.

7. Safari styles infuse a sense of adventure, and add a rough-hewn edge that balance out girlish silhouettes.

8.  From swimsuits to sandals, patterns and prints cover everything this season.

9.  Go for sheer sheaths and translucent tees, but do yourself (and us) a favor – wear something underneath.

10. The clog sandal is so super seventies? It makes me want to throw my car keys in the bowl…

Real Life Fashion Series #003: L

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

Last time; my photography blows and I took it on a phone in my bathroom. In other news, if you can get past the ghetto set up and lack of an actual human being, I dug this out my closet last minute to wear to a work dinner for J. Is it stunning? Maybe not, but relatively chic, comfortable, appropriate for the occasion, and most importantly…free.

I’ve recently been able to drag myself from the depths of the panic that often ensues when one has to pull together an outfit for a particular event. It used to be “ShitIhavetorunoutandbuyadressrightnow,” while recently I’ve been opening my closet around 4:30 PM, only to stare blankly at its contents. (Whether this is due to the economic climate, time restrictions as a result of motherhood, or lack of truly giving a crap, I’m unsure.) This is what I came up with, and if I can do it you can too.

(Trina Turk Velvet Jacket: Nordstrom, Catherine Malandrino Silk Camisole: Loehmann’s, Amrita Singh Gold & Crystal Earrings: Loehmann’s, Cynthia Rowley Vintage Slouchy Pants: Hand me down from my mother, Linea Pelle Gold Leather Clutch: Gomatta Girls, Te Casan by Fay Baldock Silk/Satin Booties: Loehmann’s)

Currently (Still) Coveting: Thomas Wylde Cashmere Poncho

Thomas Wylde Cashmere Poncho $1075

Thomas Wylde Cashmere Poncho $1075

I tweeted about this last week, foolishly thinking it would be purged from my consciousness – no such luck; I am still desperate for it in all of its redonkulous unattainableness. Staggering even at its “sale” price (marked down from – Hi! – $21freaking50), I am truly SOL on this one…

Giveaway: Chic Workout Wear (I Swear) From IVEE!

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

IVEE 'Ella' Top in Coral/Red $39

IVEE 'Ella' Top in Coral/Red $39

If you know me at all, then it’s no big secret that working out is not my most fave thing on the planet. Pilates? Love, but probably because the only thing missing from the reformer is an ashtray, it’s so relaxing. A brisk walk up the canyon (which isn’t a hike ladies, so stop calling it that)? I’m in, but even then mostly due to the fact that I have a 100 lb. Dane mix, leaving me with little choice. You have a better chance of finding me at REI on a Saturday afternoon than you do on an elliptical, but now that I’m Iveestylin’? It’s almost enough to make me want to treat the treadmill like a runway.

I’ve never featured workout clothes before, and have done quite the decent job of dodging your questions regarding them. This was of course pre-Ivee, who were generous enough to send me this modern and comfy ‘Ella’ top, that I kind of don’t want to take off. (You hear that FTC? They sent it to me. TO REVIEW.) The cut is super flattering, and although it fits snugly in the boobs – complete with removable pads – what I love is that it isn’t skin tight. (FYI I’m a 4/6 on top, and mine is a medium – I could have gone with a small for a smoother silhouette.) My other fave is the ‘Chloe’ top, which like her friend ‘Ella,’ is far more chic than the yawn of a tank top or sports bra (which – Hi! – should not be worn alone and called a ‘top’).

Here’s your chance to ditch your dirty tees and score some Ivee duds of your very own! LASM and Ivee have teamed up to give away a $50 discount code, good on orders of fifty dollars or more! (Go figure.) Simply visit iveestyle.com, choose the item you like best, and tell us about it in the comments section of this post.* If you Tweet or Facebook this link to the giveaway, we’ll throw in an additional entry – do both and we’ll throw in two, so be sure to let us know…good luck!

*All comments must be posted by the end of the giveaway on Wednesday December 16th, at 11:59 EST. The winner will be chosen at random, notified via e mail, and announced on L.A. Stylist Mom shortly thereafter. One entry per person with a maximum of two additional entries for Twitter and/or Facebook links to this contest. Open to U.S. residents only.

Levi's 539 Organic Cotton Eco Vintage Jeans in 'Shadow' $39.99

Levi's 539 Organic Cotton Eco Vintage Jeans in 'Shadow' $39.99

Just a few of my faves for the dudes on your list! FYI for the seemingly randoms; the Noonon Polo is stupid soft cotton and an incredible fit. I bought one for J, I should have bought five. The jeans also have an amazing cut and wash, not to mention they’re eco, and for just forty bucks…?! I’m not a fan of ‘fashion’ sneakers (*shudder*), so keep it simple and classic with a sturdy pair of JPs. If you’re looking to splurge, do it on to-die-for cuff links he’ll adore, or a modern-classic Paul Smith wallet, because who doesn’t love Paul Smith?? (If you don’t, keep it to yourself.)

(Shout Out to the FTC: This post was not sponsored by any of the above vendors, nor did I receive a single item of swag.)
