Further proof that just because you’re a mom, doesn’t mean you can’t be fashionable. (And without having to spend a lot of cash.) Exhibit #001: D. At home, on a Sunday afternoon, look cuter. (And yes my chic mommy friends, beware; this does in fact mean that you are now fodder for my website.) After telling her about seven times how much I was digging her outfit, D sweetly acquiesced and allowed me to take her photo…and grill her about her ensemble item by item (details below). It’s that time of year again – Spring, and is it ever crammed with weddings, graduations, bar mitzvahs, and showers, not to mention general warmer weather soirees. Fun? Sure. Expensive? Most definitely. Add to that the additional stress of having to find a flattering outfit that won’t break the bank, and the party atmosphere can quickly give way to a feeling of dread. Trouvé One Pocket Boyfriend Tee in Black $15.90
Overlooking the fact that she is in desperate need of a sandwich therefore making this ‘it really is super cute’ top look weird? It really is super cute. I recently picked up a couple at Loehmann’s (in black and white) under the name ‘Eight Sixty,’ but it’s the exact same shirt. For so long I found myself looking for a comfy top (one that didn’t belong to J) to throw on with jeans; Not a fitted tee, not a button down, and not a sweater, rather something that would look kind of cool without trying too hard. Not only are these super soft cotton, even though they’re slouchy they’re still sized to fit, so it doesn’t appear that you’re lost in your boyfriend’s (husband’s) boxy t-shirt. Surprisingly flattering, it’s a great casual-chic look (whatever the hell that is) for night, teamed up with jeans, heels, and a great necklace. Originally marked at twenty eight bucks, it also comes in gray and purple.

Banana can be pretty hit or miss in all arenas, depending upon who happens to be designing on any given year. I popped in the other day, and was taken aback by how beautiful some of their jewelry was. Given the resurgence of costume jewelry, below are some great picks that are both beautiful and affordable.
