(And yes my chic mommy friends, beware; this does in fact mean that you are now fodder for my website.) After telling her about seven times how much I was digging her outfit, D sweetly acquiesced and allowed me to take her photo…and grill her about her ensemble item by item (details below). Love ‘em or hate ‘em, sequins are the deal for Fall 2009. I happen to love them (yet oddly, have yet to make a purchase…I might want to revisit that) in all their Bianca Jagger circa ‘77, Studio 54 glory, but hey – that’s just me. Being that they are super trendy, you might not want to make a huge investment. On the flip side? I also think that they’re pretty versatile; anything that can work with jeans and black tie, is a go in my book. You in…?

1. Power Shoulders: Evocative of both the ’40’s and ’80’s, this formidable silhouette commandeered the fall runways.
2. Biker Babe: Seen in everything from motorcycle jackets, to chains, to leather leggings, this hardcore sexy look is an essential fall component.
3. Black Is The New Black: Collections were once again deep, dark, and rich; think femme-fatale sophistication, not Siouxsie Sioux.
4. Fur: PC or not, it’s everywhere for fall; faux, real, dyed, sheared, and otherwise.
5. One Shoulder: A carry over from spring becomes more structural and modern for fall.
6. Metallic Fabrics: Season after season, it’s shown up in leather and accessories, but key pieces now sparkle and shine in Studio 54-esque lamé.

Ruche Smokey Gray 'Concierto' Tank $29.99
For thirty bucks, this is just too pretty to pass up! There’s something really simple about it, yet at the same time, so much embellishment in the construction of the blouse itself. I think it looks much more expensive than it actually is, not to mention it’s forgiving cut – high on the shoulders to flatter your arms, and loose in the tummy to hide, well…you know; It would be a perfect match for spring’s new cropped pants. I so dig Ruche – it’s like the cheap Anthropologie!
