Up Next: Temple St. Clair For Target…

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

Temple St. Clair 18K Blue Moonstone and Tanzanite Cluster Ring $10,500

Temple St. Clair 18K Diamond Foglia Drop Earrings $3,250

Temple St. Clair 18K Pavé Serpent Pendant with Blue Sapphires $3,900

…and not a moment too soon, since you’re reading those price tags correctly. (Obvy, these are not the collaboration pics, but a sampling from the actual Temple St. Clair collection.) How else would we be able to partake in the luxurious indulgence that is Temple St. Clair? Thanks (again) Target!

Although not at liberty to share them (yet), I’ve seen the photos of the collaboration firsthand and you will not be disappointed – especially since there isn’t a single item priced over fifty bucks. These limited edition pieces are set to launch nationwide, both in stores and online, on August 29th and will be available through December 26th – unless of course it sells out first. If so? You’re on your own.

The Like (Clad in Zac Posen for Target) Perform ‘Fair Game’ by Gia Coppola

Monday, April 12th, 2010

Way back in the early days of my career, there was the dreaded ‘music video.’ I say dreaded since in the world of styling, the music video is the bottom of the food chain; a humble beginning that includes low wages, little recognition, no over time and looooooong hours. I can personally recall two 22 hour shoot days IN. A. ROW. Don’t even get me started on union rules and turnaround time (the time between your wrap one day and the next day’s call – supposed to be 10 hours. I laugh.)

That being a distant albeit somewhat fond memory, I’m digging this little film and video combo by Gia Coppola. Reminiscent of the Go-Go’s, I especially love the look and styling of the black and white images at the beginning, inspired by old footage of The Beatles in their hotel room…check it!

…and speaking of Target, my Zac Posen picks!

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

Zac Posen for Target Black Tuxedo Jacket $49.95, White Pleated Sleeve Top $29.99, Black Tuxedo Pants $39.99 and Safety-Pin Print Scarf $24.99

(Photo courtesy of Target via nymag.com)

This is so freaking good and totally my thing, fully evocative of the infamous Marianne Faithfull and the ultimate muse, Patti Boyd. While it remains to be seen if it’s as good up close, wouldn’t it be dreamy to score a semi-decent suit for under a hundred bucks? I’ve come to the conclusion that the black suit is the new LBD (for now), since I’m done with seeing a room full of tired looking ones at every event. A black suit is invaluable not just on it’s own, but as separates, and depending upon what accessories, blouse (or not) and shoes you choose, can be casual-chic to super dressy.

Most other pieces in the collection left me feeling luke-warm, but there were a couple of cute ones; I’m especially partial to this Floral Print Brocade Tie Dress for its nod to my very favorite fabric (I was married in white and silver brocade pants and matching top, made out of fabric from my mother’s late-60′s wedding gown) in a retro-chic print and modern cut that is classic Posen. The Blue Snap Tape Dress is cute, but looks tough to wear as if it could potentially be a weird cut or ill-fitting. I also dig the Red Moto Leather Jacket – steep for a collab piece at two-hundred bucks, but it makes me grateful that I kept the buttery soft, fire-engine red, North Beach Leather one from the ’80′s. That’s right. I said North Beach Leather…recognize her? (Zac Posen for Target will be available both in-store and on line April 25th-May 30th.)

P.S. I’m also strangely into the *choke* Merona shoes that they used to style the collection. I could also just be tired.

Bargain Of The Week: Cynthia Vincent For Target

Monday, April 5th, 2010

Cynthia Vincent for Target Cotton Wedge Sandal $29.99 (Photo courtesy of Target via Nitrolicious.com)

It doesn’t get better than Cynthia Vincent for thirty bucks, and I can’t wait for these vibrant tribal wedges to hit the shelves so I can check them out ‘in real life.’ The goods arrive both in stores and online beginning April 18th, and are available (if they don’t sell out) through June 20th. Although this shoe is part of a larger collection, this is the only one that I’m really digging. The rest of them look kind of vinyl-y to me, but who knows – you might love them!

Tracy Feith for Target

Tracy Feith for Target

Navy Shift Dress With Pink Embroidered Flowers (Right)

Tracy Feith for Target

Black Leather Motorcycle Jacket $139.99

Tracy Feith is probably most well known for the ‘morning after’ dress he created for Michelle Obama. Being an avid surfer and subsequently hugely ‘beach’ influenced, he’s been on the west coast for years in high end department stores, amongst others. I’ve always been drawn to his vivid and flirty dresses for both their comfort and beauty, yet what I wasn’t so crazy about were the price tags; Enter Target. Feith has collaborated with the retail giant for yet another GO International campaign. While it appears to have some classic Feith hallmarks in both ease and print (fifteen of them are his original patterns), it somehow feels younger to me than his earlier collections. It could also be the twelve year old models and/or the styling; Much like the McQ Alexander McQueen campaign, I think I like the pieces better separately. I’m especially digging the navy shift embroidered with pink flowers, as well as the cropped motorcycle jacket – so cute and the jacket for spring. The good news is not only is it actually leather, it’s also the costliest item (at $139.99) in the sixty piece collection. The rest will run you from $14.99 to $44.99, and will be available both in-store and online, from May 17th through June 27th. I’m on the fence. You…? (Sidebar: I’m pretending that I don’t know the brunette model is on The City – thank God I don’t know her name.)

Miss Trish of Capri for Target 'Flower' Sandals in Green Patent $29.99

Miss Trish of Capri for Target 'Flower' Sandals in Green Patent $29.99

I know – yet another designer for Target. They are however, procuring some good ones, the latest being a shoe collection from Miss Trish of Capri. Trish Carroll’s flagship store originated as a ‘cabana’ in the Hamptons, and was soon followed up by a second on-premise location at Frederic Fekkai in Beverly Hills; A third, on Worth Avenue in Palm Beach, followed shortly thereafter. The original line of sandals are well-made, classic, and evocative of jet set 1960′s socialites and screen sirens – think St. Tropez. Since I haven’t seen the Target line ‘in person’ (yet), I can’t vouch; What I can say is that it’s in keeping with the glamorous resort feel of the originals, embellished with jewels and sparkly undersea creatures. While the original line will run you somewhere in the ballpark of $250 to $500, the Target versions can be yours for just $29.99, and are available both in-store and online, from April 5th until June 14th.
