Nine West 'Phantom' Black Suede Bootie $69.99

Nine West 'Phantom' Black Suede Bootie $69.99

These are too good to pass up! The shift (originally marked at $275) is a gorgeous, versatile, classic that can be dressed either up or down, depending. It will save you countless times from the ‘I have a formal event WTF do I wear?’ dilemma. You will have it forever, I promise. The booties (down from $99)? Same deal versatility wise, however they probably won’t save you, and will last only several seasons in lieu of forever. That’s not really the same deal at all now that I think about it, but for seventy bucks…?

Abaeté for Payless 'Dauphin' Pump in Black $34.99

So Fioni doesn’t technically fall under the Designers for Payless category, but their booties are a great way to try out a sought-after Fall ’09 80′s trend without any heavy commitment. If the purple is a bit too Pat Benatar they also come in black, not to mention their similarity to other pricier designer versions. The runways were also rife with what is, in my opinion, the most flattering shoe style on just about everyone – the T-strap. The ‘Exeter’ pumps are an easy way to add them to your arsenal without having to take out a second mortgage – be sure to check out the purple version as well…

Alice+Olivia for Payless 'Robertson' Peep-Toe Ankle Boot

The first pair I love, the second pair I love in theory, and the third and fourth pairs are just nutty. Let me preface this by stating, that when I feature specific items on my site, I’m in no way saying, “Buy them I love them if you don’t you suck.” (Apropos of more than just a little jumpsuit backlash? If you revisit the post to which I’m referring, you’ll see that it is in fact categorized under ‘Don’t.’) I find the whole ‘Designer For’ movement fascinating, some of it good, some of it truly hideous. Lela Rose has for sure been my fave Payless collaborator thus far, but I’m happy to see that up and comers like Christian Siriano are getting some props, too. Besides, how better to pay the rent than by designing for the gen pop? And people thought Isaac Mizrahi was out of his mind.
