Insane. You can’t tell from this picture, but the satin ‘mohawk’ goes up either side of your of foot, making these even more astoundingly gorgeous when on. Combine that with that fact that they’re so practical and reasonably priced? I’ll probably end up getting a couple pairs…

So Fioni doesn’t technically fall under the Designers for Payless category, but their booties are a great way to try out a sought-after Fall ‘09 80’s trend without any heavy commitment. If the purple is a bit too Pat Benatar they also come in black, not to mention their similarity to other pricier designer versions. The runways were also rife with what is, in my opinion, the most flattering shoe style on just about everyone – the T-strap. The ‘Exeter’ pumps are an easy way to add them to your arsenal without having to take out a second mortgage – be sure to check out the purple version as well…

Forgive me as I am ever so slooowly re-immersing myself back into my ‘real’ life (dog puke anyone?). Have I mentioned that I’m not amazing with transition…? With kindergarten, haircuts, and uniforms on the back burner (for now), historically one of the first things I do upon retuning to my hometown, is ditch the kids, jump into the car with my mom (the best shopper on the planet for about sixty different reasons) and head to the local Loehmann’s.
The sale was on, and the discounts were gorgeously deep. I tried to focus more on my day-to-day ensembles, rather than shopping for all those amazing nights out that usually only happen in my head. I think I did okay, save for the impractical Pucci beach tote that I just couldn’t pass up ($120 down about seven times from a ludicrous $715 – WTH?!), and The Steve Madden (WTH x 2, since I usually cannot stand SM) platforms that I still think are kind of slutty. Regardless, they make my fat feet look cute as do the gladiators, so there. Oh, and the chandelier earrings! (Mine are, incidentally, all clear stones.) On second thought, not such a stellar job on the day-to-day wear. At least I managed to eek out some jeans and tees, but boy will those slutty shoes look hot in a parallel universe…

I am currently in the hazy cloud of having just returned from a weekend away in Palm Springs – sans kids. Although for all intents and purposes I should have arrived home looking and feeling rested, I find the acclimation process to be difficult at best. In addition to sweltering dry heat temps in excess of one hundred and fifteen degrees, part of the Palm Springs experience (for me at least) is the outlet stores. I always go with grand visions of Gucci, YSL, Bottega, and Marni, and more often than not, roll back into L.A. with a car full of mini sneakers. I guess there are worse things. (I did however, score a great pair of neon-pink, patent leather, flat sandals, at the Barneys outlet for forty bucks!)
In addition to the fact that they are first and foremost outlet stores, there are currently tons of extra markdowns and sales, due to both the end of the season and crappy economy alike. Good news for those of us whose kids need shoes (*snort*), because when do they not?? I got the ‘Ox’ pair for Z for $14.97 (they presently retail at Zappos for $43.95), and the slip-on pair for R for seven bucks (available at Amazon for $30). In my opinion, worth it if you have a Converse outlet near you.
I also wisely (or so I thought) purchased a size up for both boys – so as to have a ‘reserve’ of sneaks for the coming months – and was subsequently quite happy with myself. It seems that I am subconsciously rejecting the fact that my kids are getter bigger by the minute, since this morning they both popped on their respective pairs (which fit perfectly) and happily bounded off to camp. Now, not only do I need to purchase school sneaks again? Maybe this time I’ll be a bit more astute about it.
