I know I’m rushing you, but fall is right around the corner even if you can’t feel it. How much are you going to wish you had scooped up this ensemble, for a mere hundred and seventy-five bucks – including shoes – come September? Food for thought.

Weigh-In: What Up With The Keyfobs?
Thursday, June 24th, 2010
Um, when did it stop being a key ‘chain?’ I’m guessing around the same time that a purse became a handbag, maybe? Aside from sunglasses, can you think of anything that gets lost more than freaking keys? So what, if we’re going to lose them anyway, let’s just ramp it up with an inordinately pricey keychain I mean fob…?
I get that people are desperate to own a piece of ‘fashion,’ and I get that brands are hip to this and therefore savvy enough to manufacture crap like designer keyfobs, making labels a teensy bit more accessible so that the layperson can buy into the dream. What I do not get, however, is why for the love of Pete anyone in their right mind would fork over two hundred and thirty-five bucks to own some leftover Lanvin sweatshirt scraps.
Don’t even get me started on that eyesore of a cupcake. Suckers take note; those crystals? They’re Fiiiiiiiine with a capital ‘F’ so don’t be lulled into thinking you’re not getting your money’s worth with some mediocre-crap-ass crystals. And Jimmy – nada star? It sure looks a star to me. A few stars actually, and let’s hope it comes with a tube of Neosporin since I’d sure hate to be fishing around my handbag, in the dark, for those babies. What do you think? Are you shelling out two hundred plus quid for a designer keyfob? Wait, let me guess…
Currently Coveting (*sigh*)
Friday, May 14th, 2010…and speaking of Target, my Zac Posen picks!
Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

Zac Posen for Target Black Tuxedo Jacket $49.95, White Pleated Sleeve Top $29.99, Black Tuxedo Pants $39.99 and Safety-Pin Print Scarf $24.99

This is so freaking good and totally my thing, fully evocative of the infamous Marianne Faithfull and the ultimate muse, Patti Boyd. While it remains to be seen if it’s as good up close, wouldn’t it be dreamy to score a semi-decent suit for under a hundred bucks? I’ve come to the conclusion that the black suit is the new LBD (for now), since I’m done with seeing a room full of tired looking ones at every event. A black suit is invaluable not just on it’s own, but as separates, and depending upon what accessories, blouse (or not) and shoes you choose, can be casual-chic to super dressy.
Most other pieces in the collection left me feeling luke-warm, but there were a couple of cute ones; I’m especially partial to this Floral Print Brocade Tie Dress for its nod to my very favorite fabric (I was married in white and silver brocade pants and matching top, made out of fabric from my mother’s late-60′s wedding gown) in a retro-chic print and modern cut that is classic Posen. The Blue Snap Tape Dress is cute, but looks tough to wear as if it could potentially be a weird cut or ill-fitting. I also dig the Red Moto Leather Jacket – steep for a collab piece at two-hundred bucks, but it makes me grateful that I kept the buttery soft, fire-engine red, North Beach Leather one from the ’80′s. That’s right. I said North Beach Leather…recognize her? (Zac Posen for Target will be available both in-store and on line April 25th-May 30th.)
P.S. I’m also strangely into the *choke* Merona shoes that they used to style the collection. I could also just be tired.

Fall Lingerie From Stella McCartney
Thursday, November 5th, 2009
Don’t know what’s up with me and Stella M.C. lately, but amazing, right…? I guess if you have a body that would make those shorts hang off your ass like that…and don’t mind trying to do up four side buttons while you’re rushing out the door with dried Yo Baby in your hair…and what about all that impractical, bunchy, shirring in the back? Not to mention the paycheck to cover it…why did I post about these again…?
Happy Vertebrae!
Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009
I recently celebrated a birthday, and a lovely one at that. J has always lamented that I’m super difficult to buy for, although he has consistently done an amazing job choosing the most thoughtful and gorgeous gifts. (Including the first Christmas we ever spent together when much to my chagrin, I unwrapped what appeared to be a portable bathroom heater; turned out to be a beautiful handmade vase I had seen at an art show. Way to recycle honey!) He’s recently informed me that it’s become considerably easier to make purchases, since now he just checks LASM. Tricky…
Regardless, I was completely surprised and thrilled to receive this stunning cuff, and It. Is. Love. I’ve worn it almost daily since, and people are constantly commenting on it. (Some think it’s just abstract, others an antler of some sort, and my fave? A guy who said with total nonchalance, “Nice vertebra.”) Martha Rotten makes some really cool pieces – bones, skulls, and the requisite ‘scary’ stuff, but also a really beautiful line of bird skulls with jeweled eyes, and bracelets cast from vintage baby doll faces. Not for the faint of heart, but stunning all the same. And no, it isn’t a human vertebra, it’s from a dolphin that died of natural causes, so you can sleep tight!
…yet another great handbag under $200!
Friday, September 18th, 2009I know it’s been forever since I last posted, and here I am again…with handbags. First off, I am grateful for any slack you’d like to cut me, since I know that it’s a giant bowl of lame sauce to tune in to the same tedious post day after day – my apologies. Now, moving on…
I could discuss the handbag topic ad nauseum, since it crops up consistently from both readers and in my ‘real’ life. This is a great one. Versatile and durable, yet all the while maintaining a current vibe combined with a classic shape – all for a hundred and sixty-five bucks! You can wipe it clean, and its style is timeless so it’ll be around for a while, unlike the grommet-y, rocker bags of late. Don’t get me wrong – I dig them – but I also realize that they’re not for everyone. I’m particularly fond of the purple, although they do come in a bunch of other colors not pictured. Click here to check out the full spectrum! See you soon – I promise!
